Located in Tokyo, Apex is dedicated to recruiting bilingual professionals for mid to senior-level management positions. The company was founded in 2010 and first established as a healthcare-focused company. Since then, Apex has grown to over 100 employees, established a secondary office, and covered ten other large industries in Japan.
My experience with Apex was also my first time in Japan. I learned about the recruitment industry and adapted to a different cultural landscape by working closely with the company. The projects I was responsible for aimed to improve usability, strengthen the company’s brand identity, and increase foot traffic. Learning differences in Japanese design through typography, content, and form was a part of my independent study there and contributed to my work.
Homepage Redesign
One of the first projects I was responsible for was redesigning the website to improve user navigation, experience, and retention. I analyzed trends among Apex’s competitors in Japan and studied rules of typography for Japanese characters compared to English in less than a week to begin sketching ideas to implement.
Great Place To Work Video
The largest project I was tasked with was creating an informative video about Great Place to Work, a global organization that recognizes outstanding employee’s experience and environment in the workplace. This was my longest motion project I worked on to date, and I explored elements such as 3D animations.
Social Media Graphics
Among my projects, I helped create covers for a variety of Apex’s articles and social media posts. These articles discussed topics such as the process of changing jobs, maternity leave, and industry insights.
